Rothley report on motor insurance is approved

Strasbourg, 22/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - In approving at first reading the report on motor insurance by German Social Democrat Willy Rothley (525 votes to 9 and 16 abstentions), the European Parliament increased the level of compensation in the event of accident (see EUROPE of 9 October, p.9). On the other hand, it did away with the compulsory civil insurance for covering cyclists and pedestrians who are victims of accidents.
