Parliament gives go-ahead to review of directive on quality of bathing waters for better health protection of bathers and of those practising nautical sports

Brussels, 22/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption, on Tuesday, of the report by Dutch Liberal Jules Maaten (290 votes in favour, 221 against and 18 abstentions), the European Parliament gave its go-ahead at first reading to review of Directive 76/160/EEC on the quality of bathing waters, a directive which dates back 30 years.
