Commission confident about contributions from Member States to generously complete its EUR 200 million promise at donors conference

Brussels, 22/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The donors meeting for the reconstruction of Iraq will bring around sixty countries together, as well as around twenty international organisations to Madrid on 24 October, in an attempt to bring in the promised funds necessary for covering priority reconstruction needs, calculated by the World Bank and United Nations at USD 36 bn for the 2004-07 period and 8.2 bn for 2004 alone.
