Luxembourg, 10/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Italian Presidency has welcomed the progress made in the field of maritime safety (see EUROPE of 10 October, p.11) and air transport, at Thursday's Transport Council in Luxembourg. Whilst she shared this enthusiasm, Loyola de Palacio, the Commissioner for Transport, conceded a "small fly in the ointment" of this Council at the end of the political debate on the proposed directive on the imposition of penalties in case of serious marine pollution....
