Brussels, 24/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission decided to pay EUR 10 million to farmers in the Netherlands who suffered substantial losses due to bird flu in the first half of 2003. The European contribution in this compensation now stands at 50%. Farmers were compensated for slaughtered animals and for destroyed eggs.
