UCP assures President Papadopoulos of its support for any initiative based on EU values for resolving Cypriot issue

Brussels, 26/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a press release published on 26 June, the UCP (United Cyprus Party) stresses how urgent it is to find a solution to reuniting the island before it joins the EU in May 2004. The party stresses that the Annan Plan is a good base for a balanced settlement and welcomes the fact that Mr Papadopoulos, who was recently elected President of the Republic of Cyprus, had expressed his willingness to negotiate on the basis of this plan.
