Ingo Friedrich criticises planned reform of ECB and calls for economic strength or population criterion

Brussels, 24/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament rapporteur on enlargement, CSU MEP Ingo Friedrich has strongly criticised the planned reform of the European Central Bank with a view to enlargement. (The European Parliament will be giving its opinion in plenary on enlargement on 11 March, see Europe of 20 February, p.7). In a press release, the MEP argued that the suggested rotation of governors stood little chance of being approved by the EP's Economic and Monetary Affairs...
