Move to ban E 425 gelling agent and radical revision of legislation on food additives

Brussels, 28/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Parliamentary Environmental, Health and Consumer Protection Committee has adopted the report of Swedish Liberal Marit Paulsen on food additives, by unanimity. The report will now be put on the agenda, without debate, for the plenary in February for formal adoption. The European Parliament will thus approve, in first reading (codecison), the Commission's proposal to amend the 1995 directive on food additives and ban the E 425 gelling agent (Konjac...
