Brussels, 10/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has adopted a decision by which it recognises the Balearic Islands (Spain) as free of bluetongue, this disease resulting from a highly contagious virus, spread by insects and only affecting ruminants. By virtue of this decision, exports from the Balearic Islands of live animals susceptible to the disease (goats, sheep, cattle and wild ruminants), as well as their semen, embryos and ova, may resume to the Union's Member States....
