Commission takes action against eight Member States for failing to transpose Guarantees Directive on time

Brussels, 06/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to launch infringement proceedings against eight Member States - Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom - over their failure to implement the Guarantees Directive (1999/44/EC) setting out legal rights for consumers buying goods in the EU. The Member States will be sent 'Reasoned Opinions' (the second step in infringement proceedings under Article 226 of the EU...
