Brussels, 06/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - After examining the proposed joint acquisition of Interpower, the electricity generation company belonging to Enel, by Electrabel and Energia, the European Commission concluded that the operation did not come under the Merger Regulation. It is in fact a joint venture agreement under which Interpower will sell the electricity it produces mostly to Electrabel and Energia, its new parent companies, as soon as its current contracts with Enel come to an end....
