EU/Mexico Forum of Civil Society calls for creation of Observatory to assess social and environmental effects of trade liberalisation

Brussels, 28/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Mexican authorities and European Commission have stated that they would back the creation of an Observatory responsible for assessing the social and ecological consequences of the EU/Mexico free trade partnership agreement. Proposed at the first meeting of the "EU/Mexico" Forum of Civil Society, in Brussels on Tuesday, this observatory would submit analyses and proposals on the basis of an annual working programme.
