EP calls on Commission to act in order to guarantee plurality of media, but remains divided over need to legislate

Strasbourg, 19/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - During a debate Monday afternoon in plenary session on the phenomenon of mergers in the media sector, MEPs called on the European Commission to take action in order to guarantee plurality of the media in the EU. MEPs, who presented six different draft resolutions on Wednesday, were, however, divided over the degree of intervention required.
