19/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - On the fringe of the General Affairs Council, the Danish Presidency approved a declaration on Cyprus whereby it again congratulates the United Nations Secretary General for having presented a peace plan for the island. It stresses the EU's commitment to encourage all parties concerned to bring negotiations to a positive conclusion before the European Council of Copenhagen so that, during this meeting, it is possible to welcome a united island into the EU.
