Brussels, 24/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - During its plenary session the Economic and Social Committee adopted the Opinion of José Ignacio Gafo Fernandez (Employers Group, Spain) on the "Action Plan on the Simplification and Improvement of the Regulatory Environment". While supporting the Commission Communication, the Committee believes that this initiative needs fine-tuning, particularly in terms of transparency and is thus proposing the following modifications: clearer definition of the concept of "stakeholders ", the taking into account of voluntary agreements in the allocation of "Eco-labels", removal of the requirement for cost-effective administration from proposed voluntary agreements.
