Strasbourg, 24/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - Following the progress on the Greens in the 22 September elections to the Bundestag, the co-President of the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament, Daniel Cohn-Bendit said on Tuesday that "the conditions are there" to set up a "Party of European Greens" (like the EPP, the PES and ELDR: Ed.). According to the German Green elected in France, such a Party should be created before the European elections of June 2002. The Greens/EFA Group is to meet in Merano, in Italy, from 14 to 18 October, to define, with the leaders of the different European Green parties, the strategy to conduct to set up a European party, which, according to a press release, could see the light of day in Rome in the Spring of 2004.
