Report on Security Council meeting - Javier Solana believes that it is presently "impossible" to have a common EU position

Brussels, 23/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana declared to the European Parliament on Tuesday that Morocco and Algeria would not be able to have normal relations before the situation in the Sahara was resolved. He strongly criticised the fact that it was "for the instant impossible" to obtain a common EU position on the subject. He said that divergences were so strong that there was no point insisting otherwise, he stated, pointing to the deadline of 31 July, the date chosen for the UN...
