Luxembourg, 08/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Hearings on the legal base of the cigarette advertising directive (challenged by American Tobacco) were held very recently in Luxembourg, the Court of Justice rejecting by order Germany's appeal (Germany had called for various measures of the directive to be annulled). The order raised the issue of the deadlines laid down in the rules of procedure for making an appeal at the European courts.
