08/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to the British press, large quantities of frozen chicken imports from Britain, after being treated in the Netherlands with beef based proteins, present a risk for transmitting BSE. The fraudulent practice consists in injecting a diluted bovine-based protein powder into the chicken in order to increase the weight and hence sales prices.
