Rod Report calls on plenary to endorse Cotonou Accord which while far from ideal has advantage of extending partnership for twenty years

Brussels, 11/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - The report by French Green MEP Didier Rod on the draft Council decision on the signing of the partnership agreement between the European Union and the 77 ACP countries, that will be discussed next Wednesday in plenary session in Strasbourg. It calls on the EP to endorse the ratification of the twenty-year Cotonou Accord by the EU - it was signed in Benin on 23 June 2000.
