- Czech Republic: the Czech government announced that eight companies or consortia had submitted indicative bids for CESKY TELECOM, the former fixed-line monopoly of the country. ORANGE, FRANCE TELECOM's mobile arm confirmed its bid but this only concerned EUROTEL, CESKY TELECOM. DEUTSCHE TELEKOM's mobile phone subsidiary, which is also believed to have made a bid. The Czech Republic is selling its 51% stock in the telecommunications operator. Current stock is valued at EUR 3.3 billion.
