Brussels, 30/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Chris Patten (External Relations) and Commissioner Pascal Lamy (Trade) will be meeting the Russian Prime Minster Kasyanov and other members of the Russian government in Moscow next week. Mr Patten will also be meeting the Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov to concentrate on international co-operation in the war on terrorism and the role of the EU and Russia in this, and the state of bilateral economic cooperation. Discussions will also focus on the draft "Common European Economic Space" of the EU and Russia, for which a working group was recently set up. The group will hold its first meeting on Wednesday in Moscow. Mr Lamy's meetings will concentrate on Russia's prospects for joining the WTO, with strong EU support.
