Brussels, 30/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - At the European Parliament on 5 and 6 December, the twelfth meeting of the President of the European Parliament with the presidents of the parliaments of the candidate countries will take place. The meeting will be opened on Wednesday afternoon by the President of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine, and the first meeting will focus on the future of Europe in the run-up to the Laeken Summit with interventions by the President of the Constitutional Committee, Giorgio Napoletano, and rapporteurs Inigo Mendez de Vigo and Jo Leinen and will be summed up by Guido Podestà, one of the EP Vice-Presidents. On Thursday morning, the meeting will look at enlargement with interventions by Commissioner Günter Verheugen and the President of the EP's Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok.
