Brussels, 30/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament issued its formal opinion of the proposed rehash of the Financial regulation when adopting the report by Gianfranco Dell'Alba (Lista Bonino, Italy) in Brussels on Wednesday. On 31 May 2001 it was decided to simply adopt the 180 amendments to the Commission's initial proposal and put off the vote on the resolution (see EUROPE of 2 August). The EP was hereby aiming to demonstrate its desire to continue assessing the issue following the adopting by the Commission at the end of October of a working document that took account of a number of the EP's amendments (see EUROPE of 29/30 October, p.14 and 1 November, p.12). since the EP has adopted its formal opinion, the Commission's working document has become an amended proposal that the Council can now examine. Spain has already indicated that the issue will be one of its priorities when it takes over the Presidency.
