Brussels, 30/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the EP adopted a resolution by Michel Rocard, President of the Social Affairs Committee, welcoming the introduction of indicators to measure the quality of social policy and employment, balancing his discourse with an EPP-ED amendment stipulating that a regulatory framework has to be maintained that favours investment, innovation and enterpreneurship; According to the EP, a limited number of priorities should be focussed on, and strategies for improving the quality of work should be targeted on women and older workers at first. Noting that the open coordination working method launched in Lisbon could become the standard instrument of social policy and employment in an enlarged Europe, the EP asked to be associated with this method.
