Belgium's INTERBREW has launched a take-over bid for the 340,030 nominal ordinary shares (bearing voting rights) in the Slovenian brewer PIVOVARNA UNION (in which it already holds a 24.62% stake). The bid holds from 28 November to 27 December. In a separate development, INTERBREW has acknowledged interest in taking over SOUTH AFRICAN BREWERIES (market capitalisation of £7 bn), the world's fifth largest brewing company.
