According to UEF, the Irish rejection of Treaty of Nice must be respected

Brussels, 21/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the Union of European Federalists (UEF), chaired by German Social-Democrat Jo Leinen, considers that "Irish citizens have taken the political responsibility to refuse the intergovernmental future of Europe designed by the draft Treaty of Nice". For the European Federalists, Member States should not try to "win" Irish public opinion back by means of small agreements among governments. "The Irish democratic vote must be respected....
