21/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Philippe Busquin signed an Association Agreement that gives Malta access to the EU framework research and development programme (FRDP). Malta thus joins the 11 other accession candidate countries, which have already signed such an agreement in October 1999. Only Turkey is not associated to the FRDP.
