Brussels, 21/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the extension until 2050 of the concession granted by the French State to the French road tunnel company from Fréjus (SFTRF), for exploitation of the A43 motorway. In exchange, the State no longer guarantees that the company's liabilities will be taken on. "The extension thus authorised should result in financial viability for SFTRF", states the Commission in a press release. The extension comes within the framework of the revision of the French motorway system in order to ensure equal treatment between players when future concessions are allocated. The Commission adopted six decisions last October with regard to this revision.
