- Central and Eastern Europe: The UNCTD (United Nations Conference for Trade and Development) published the preliminary estimates indicating that the flows of direct foreign investments (DFI) to and from Central and Eastern Europe had once more reached record levels. The entries went for USD 25 billion in 1999 to 27 billion in 2000, while the outflows recorded even more pronounced growth to reach the record volume of USD 4 billion in 2000 after 3 billion in 1999.
