Commission decides to examine measures taken by Walloon authorities in favour of Bealieu group

Brussels, 07/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission decided to open the formal investigation procedure for State aids against an intervention made by the Walloon authorities in favour of the Bealieu group, Belgian textile group (carpets) established in Flanders.

This is in the framework of the Verlipack case (see EUROPE of 10/10/2000) that the Commission was aware of a possible aid in favour of the Bealieu group. On the basis of information passed on by the Belgian...
