07/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - President of the Belgian Senate, Armand De Decker (who was for years chairman of the Defence Committee of the Western European Union Assembly) proposed in the aim of guaranteeing "parliamentary control" of the European Security and Defence Policy, the creation of a "joint parliamentary assembly" that would bring together the members of the European Parliament and of national parliaments.
