Brussels, 07/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - As previously indicated, the German Klaus Regling, until now Director of the Moore Capital Strategy Group in London, was nominated Director General for Economic and Monetary Affairs at the European Commission. Commissioner Pedro Solbes announced that Mr Regling played a crucial role during various phases of the creation of EMU and demonstrated a clear engagement in favour of European integration. His profession experience is solid, both in the private and public domain, and should be an asset to the Commission. Mr Regling gained his experience working for the International Monetary Fund, the German Finance Ministry and the German Bankers Federation.
