Brussels, 09/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorized the United Kingdom to pay its coal industry 40 million euro in operating aid to its coal industry. This aid is intended to cover the operating losses of four production plants, so as to compensate for the difference between the production cost and the selling price of coal on the world market, during their restructuring period.
