The ALBATEAM consortium is to take over the logistics business of French manufacturer RENAULT within CAT - COMPAGNIE D'AFFRETEMENT ET DE TRANSPORT (turnover EUR 1.2 billion in 2000 with 2,500 employed), which will give rise to the first independent group of automobile logistics in Europe. The acquisition price of 100% of the capital of CAT was EUR 467.4 million from ALBATEAM. In addition to RENAULT, the latter groups British AUTOLOGIC HOLDING, Dutch TNT and Swedish WALLENIUS LINES. The agreement provides for the acquisition by RENAULT of 20% of ALBATEAM, the remaining 80% being shared between the other partners (40% for AUTOLOGIC and 20% each for WALLENIUS LINES and TNT LOGISTICS). AUTOLOGIC, moreover, has acquired AXIAL from TIBBETT & BRITTEN for the sum of £74.5 million.
