Commission take several positive decisions

Brussels, 28/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission authorised the following operations:

Acquisition of a stake by Shell in Siemens Solar. Joint venture between the German groups Siemens AG and E.ON Energie AG, Siemens Solar is active in the solar energy sector. Shell will contribute to this company its own activities in the solar sector in Germany. The operation does not raise any concerns, the parties being submitted to significant competition in the markets in question.

Take-over of the American company Quaker by its fellow national Pepsico: This operation in the refreshing and sports drinks and packaged foods products sector does not pose any competition problems in the European markets.

Acquisition of Norzinc (Norway) by Outokumpu Oyj (Finland): despite a high degree of consolidation in the zinc sector, the Commission felt that sufficient competition remains in the sector.

Acquisition of Magneti Marelli Climatizzaxione by the Japanese company Denso Corporation: the two companies are active in the field of automobile thermal system. However, the operation does not raise any competition problems notably given the existence of major competitors in this market.
