Agenda of March plenary session

Brussels, 28/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - Temporary protection in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons in the internal market, wage discrimination between men and women, institutions for occupational retirement, practical aspects of the euro, are, as we mentioned, among the subjects to be discussed at the European Economic and Social Committee's plenary session on 27 and 28 March, chaired by Goke Frerichs. During the session, the Committee should be adopting two own-initiative opinions - on Cross-frontier cooperation and the experience of the INTERREG (rapporteur: Paulo Barros Vale, employers group, Portugal); - Wage discrimination between men and women (Susanna Florio, workers' group, Italy).

Furthermore, the Committee should be voting on Commission legislative proposals or communications, these are: 1) approximation of laws on recreational craft (Sergio Colombo, workers, Italy); 2) aircraft passenger protection (Alexander-Michael von Schwerin, workers, Germany); 3) implementation of Internet Domain ".EU" (Peter Morgan, employers, UK); 4) integrated coastal zone management in Europe (Jose Bento Goncalves, various activities, Portugal); 5) temporary protection in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons (Giacomina Cassina, workers, Italy); 6) activities of institutions for occupational for occupational retirement provision (Jan-Jacob van Dijck, workers, the Netherlands); 7) food safety (Paul Verhaege, employers, Belgium); 8) hygiene of foodstuffs (Paul Verhaege); 9) freedom of movement for workers in the single market (Hans-Joachim Wlims, workers, Germany); 10) practical aspects of the euro (Umberto Burani, employers' Belgium); 11) structural measures in the EC in the fisheries sector (Jesus Muniz Guardado, various activities, Spain); 12) rules of competition provided for under Articles 81 and 82 of the Treaty (Edoardo Bagliano, employers, Italy); 13 Community patent (John Simpson, various activities, UK).
