WHO conference on young people and alcohol - Commissioner Byrne invites the industry to invest in fighting this scourge

Brussels, 21/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - Speaking on Wednesday at the WHO ministerial conference on young people and alcohol, in Stockholm (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.11)), David Byrne, European Health Commissioner, invited the alcohol industry to make a contribution to fighting this scourge which, together with a broad range of social problems (such as violent conduct and drunken behaviour) killed 55,000 young people in Europe between the ages of 15 and 29 years of age in 1999, according to...
