ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) privatization

- Hungary: the seven investors interested in taking over the airline company MALEV have pulled out before expiry, Monday 8 January, of the call for tenders, the economic daily Napi Gazdasag announced, marking the breakdown of this second attempt at privatization. A first attempt already failed in 1993, Italy's ALITALIA having decided not to take over the company. See, inter alia, EI of 27 October.
