18/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Solidar "European of the year" award was presented on Wednesday by Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou - during a ceremony at the European Parliament chaired by the Labour MEP Glenys Kinnock - to "Media for Democracy", a group of journalists that have fought for freedom of the press in Yugoslavia, and Doreen and Neville Lawrence, parents of the murdered black youth, Stephen, who are fighting against racism in the United Kingdom.
