UNITED TECHNOLOGIES has made a public bid for the American firm SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT COMPANIES (equipment and machines used in catering; consolidated turnover of $502 million) which it will integrate in its subsidiary CARRIER, specialised in the treatment of air (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning). The transaction amounts to $595 million, or $30.50 a share.
