Lamy notes convergence among Fifteen in favour of Commission's proposal - Parliament invited to give its opinion as soon as possible

Luxembourg, 10/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - "A fruitful discussion for the first time for a long time" at the level of the General Affairs Council (GAC) which, because of "convergence never before seen among Member States", will allow the Commission to effectively negotiate at the level of the WTO for finding a settlement to the dispute over bananas.
