OPEC Secretary General declares that organisation does not envisage intervening rapidly to reduce price of barrel

Brussels, 23/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The OPEC countries are not considering intervening rapidly to cut the price of oil, said the Secretary General of the Organisation of Petrol Exporting Countries, the Nigerian Rilwanu Lukman. "OPEC cannot intervene every day and each time prices increase", declared Rilwanu Lukman in an interview with the Arab-language daily based in London, Asharq al-Awsat, quoted by AFP.
