Brussels, 01/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided to send a reasoned opinion to France, already condemned by the European Court of Justice in December 1999, as its mutual insurance system is in contradiction with European legislation on insurance. The French authorities have a two month period to provide a satisfactory response. If this is not the case the Commission could refer it before the Court, calling on it to impose financial penalties on France.
