The British group PEARSON (taxable profit GBP 123 million in first quarter 2000) bought for USD 2.5 billion the American educational services company NCS - NATIONAL COMPUTER SYSTEMS. This company, which has an annual turnover of USD 630 million with a workforce of 5,000 people, provides software, services, systems and Internet technology aimed at gathering, managing and interpreting data.
