Probability of BSE risk in countries spared by epidemic is weak, but variable - Conclusions of Scientific Steering Committee on assessment of geographical BSE risk

Brussels, 01/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - In all the countries where case of mad cows disease have been identified (United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France Portugal, Switzerland and Denmark), the geographic risk of BSE - qualitative indicator of the risk of contamination of living bovines by the BSE infectious agent - has a trend towards stabilising or falling 1994 or 1996.
