Brussels, 26/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - An Austrian citizen, Werner Edlinger, has lodged a complaint against the European Commission before the EU's Court of First Instance. He accuses the Community executive of not having acted against the bilateral sanctions imposed on Austria since the beginning of the year. He considers that these measures taken by fourteen of the Union's Member States violate the fundamental principle of non-discrimination as enshrined in the EU Treaty. Mr. Edlinger said that he had sent the European Commission several letters but that they had remained unanswered, whence his decision to take legal steps
