New block exemption regulation in favour of logistical agreements between shipping companies (consortia) takes effect

Brussels, 25/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission announced that it was renewing for five years the regulation allowing certain concerted practices between shipping companies for the transport of cargo. This new block exemption regulation (823/2000) for shipping consortia took effect following its publication in the Official Journal n. L/100 of 20 April 2000. It replaces Regulation 870/95 that expired on 21 April (see EUROPE of 20 April, p.14).
