ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) equipment

The British business services group RENTOKIL has announced that it is selling to fellow UK firm ASHTEAD its American division that leases equipment to businesses. The sale will be for GBP 186 million in cash and the remainder in ASHTEAD shares and convertible bonds. The division being sold comprises 60 branches in 22 US states, which rent scaffolding and other equipment to businesses; it earned turnover of USD 376 million in 1999.
