Lafarge may buy up Blue Circle (building materials) if it gives up manufacture of concrete roofing tiles in Denmark

Brussels, 10/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has set a condition to the acquisition of Blue Circle Industries by Lafarge. The latter must give up its concrete roofing tile activity in Denmark. Both companies are active on the world market in the building materials sector: cement, concrete, tiles, etc. The operation will create vertical links in the United Kingdom, Greece and Denmark. Nonetheless, only the concrete roofing tile sector would create competition problems.
